Credit for first-time home buyers has been extended to 2010 and must close the transaction before July 2010. You are considered a "first time buyer" if purchaser or his/her spouse may not have owned a principal residence in the US in the three years prior to the purchase.
Also a tax credit for buyers who have owned a home at some period during the last three years and used it as their principal residence for five consecutive years in the last eight. That buyer can recive up to $6,500 or $3,250 for couples filing as individuals.
